ABCRA considers this a good case example of how developments should be considered. Mizrahi Developments first approached Councillor Wong-Tam with its ideas for the site. The Councillor suggested the developer approach ABC for feedback. Before the application was even submitted to the City, a public meeting was organized to get community input. After this meeting members of the ABC Board spent many hours with Mizrahi Developments and its architects negotiating improvements to this application to address the concerns of the community. The ABC Board finally agreed to a proposal that was then submitted to the City where City planners then refined and processed it through the normal process.

ABCRA supports the final design which has been approved by City Council. It is for a 12-storey mixed-use building, with 110 residential dwelling units atop ground floor retail and second storey office space. Also proposed is a 5 level below-grade parking facility to accommodate 124 vehicular parking spaces.

Everyone wins!

  • The neighbourhood will have a good development and tangible community benefits to improve the area.
  • The City was able to review the application efficiently.
  • The developer received his approval quickly.
