Cycling in the city (in 1891)

Heritage Toronto: "The Royal Canadian Bicycle Club - also known as the Royals - was one of the earliest cycling organizations in Toronto. Founded in 1891 and dedicated to "the encouragement of bicycling, athletic sports and good-fellowship", the club achieved immediate sporting success, winning the prestigious Dunlop Trophy nine times. As a promotion for their new pneumatic bicycle tires, the Dunlop Tire Company sponsored a 20-mile race from 1894 until 1926. It attracted riders from across North America and crowds of spectators to Toronto's streets."
