Toronto's short-term rental problems

John Caliendo "This has been incredibly distressful and disruptive to many neighbourhoods including our own. The narrative airbnb likes to propogate is the hip foodie couple from Portland on a Toronto cultural swing or the lovely twee family from Devon here for the jazz festival & some theatre & etc. The bit about all night 'keg parties', pissing on adjoining properties, police at 3am, speakers placed in backyards at full throttle, etc --- doesn't fit aforementioned hipster narrative. Except the "disruptive" bit of course. But wait, I thought the fashional silicon valley term 'disruptive' referred to the hospitality industry being disintermediated - not your ability to safely sleep in your own home."
