The OMB Decision for 67 Roxborough Street West was issued on August 3, 2016 and the appeal by the owner was dismissed. This means that the variance requested by the owner for front yard parking at 67 Roxborough St. West is NOT being granted. There will be no front yard parking at 67 Roxborough Street West and this is a positive decision for the street and the neighbourhood.
By way of background, the owner of 67 Roxborough Street West applied to the Committee of Adjustment in November 2015 to install a parking pad in the front yard of the house that was then under construction. The Committee of Adjustment refused the application at the hearing on December 2, 2015. The owner appealed the decision of the Committee of Adjustment to the Ontario Municipal Board. The OMB hearing was on July 8, 2016.
ABC Residents Association opposed the application for the variance at the Committee of Adjustment and also opposed the appeal by the owner to the OMB. Residents of Roxborough St. West and neighbouring streets also opposed the application at both hearings and attended and spoke at both hearings.
Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam and the City planning department opposed the application by the owner for front yard parking at the Committee of Adjustment. In addition, Councillor Wong-Tam brought a motion before City Council to have a City solicitor and City planner attend at the OMB hearing to support the decision of the Committee of Adjustment. These actions by the City are consistent with and support the City's moratorium on front yard parking in Ward 27 (as well as other Wards).
