Advertising in Village of Yorkville Park

Thanks to Councillor Wong-Tam and representatives of the City of Toronto Building Sign By-law Unit, the third party advertising signs affixed to the exterior of the Cumberland TTC station pavilion in the park will be taken down.

City sign by-laws do not allow advertising in parks.  In its understandable enthusiasm for revenue, the TTC had entered into a contract for the signs but has now been notified by the city Sign By-Law Unit that the signs are illegal, have to come down by October 1, and that the city did not and will not in the future issue permits for signage on the exterior walls of the station facing the park.

Thank you also to ABCRA President John Caliendo and all the neighbourhood residents who alerted ABCRA and the councillor's office to the illegal intrusion of advertising in the neighbourhood's iconic rock park.
