In nearly every ward of the City, volunteer-led park friends groups are building stronger communities through better parks. Acted as the voice for parks
Our Parks Platform, informed by over 400 park advocates from across the city, had many of its core ideas adopted by 3 mayoral candidates, including Mayor John Tory. It was also selected as a Toronto Star ‘Big Idea for a Better Toronto’. Realized the potential of our parks
With our community handbooks for citizens to host campfires, nature events, movie nights and picnics, citizens are empowered to take community building in parks into their own hands.
Cared for our parks
With over 500 volunteers participating in over 150 park clean-ups and 5 adopt-a-park-tree programs, Torontonians maintained and stewarded parks in record numbers.
Played in Toronto parks
With 25 new ping pong tables in parks across the city, Torontonians are discovering new ways to play in their parks. More are planned across the city.
We hosted 25 ravine and nature walks attended by over 1000 people throughout the year, encouraging amateurs and experts alike to discover something unexpected in their own backyard. Realized the potential of our parks
Last year thousands of people got involved in their park. We were there every step of the way.
Whether it’s exploring the ravines with new Canadians, planting butterfly gardens and new trees, putting on art festivals or singing songs around the campfire, together we lived the philosophy that when people get involved, our parks get better. Thank you. Help us do great things in 2015 with a donation to Park People today.
