Cookbook Store to reopen in the neighbourhood

Fans of The Cookbook Store who lamented the Toronto foodie destination shut its doors earlier this year can take heart there will be a reincarnation.

Alison Fryer, who ran the Yorkville store for 31 years, is joining forces with All The Best Fine Foods (1101 Yonge Street ) to create a cookbook department in the retailer's mid-town location.

C.J. Frogley Bakery, 850 Yonge St., c.1880. It was under Frogley's tutelage that George Weston apprenticed in the bakery business. Until recently, the building was home to The Cookbook Store. It stands directly across Yonge from the Toronto Reference Library. ERA Architects is using this as the key image in its restoration work for the Yonge and Yorkville project.
