Invitation from MPP Glen Murray to Ontario Municipal Consultations Wednesday March 15 2017

Hi Ward 27 neighbourhood and residents' associations,

Apologies for the short notice. We heard through the Bloor East Neighbourhood Association that MPP and Minister of the Environment and Climate Change Glen Murray is holding a consultation on the OMB on March 15 (details below). If you receive his newsletter you may have also have found this out last Friday. We wanted to blast this out to all of you to both let you know about it and to see if we could get as many organizations out there to advocate for change.

As you are aware, Councillor Wong-Tam would like to see the City of Toronto outright removed from the purview of the Ontario Municipal Board. Failing that, she would like to see what can be appealed to the OMB severely curtailed. We hope we could all agree that substantial reform to the OMB is quite necessary, and we hope you can make it out to Minister Murray's meeting at such short notice to advocate for some real change from the province.

Location: 519 Community Centre, 519 Church Street
Date: Wednesday, March 15, 2017   Time: 6-9pm

As this is Minister Murray's meeting and not the city's, you'll have to RSVP through his office.

Please RSVP by Friday, March 10th at:
P: 416 -972 -7683
Have a great day, and we hope you can make it out!

Edward LaRusic
Advisor, Constituency & Planning
City Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam
Ward 27, Toronto Centre-Rosedale

If you have scheduled a meeting with anyone in Councillor Wong-Tam's Office, you may be required to register as a Lobbyist. The City of Toronto's definition of lobbying is quite broad. You are advised to check for more information online or phone (416) 338-5858.

Original Invitation from MPP Glen Murray to Ontario Municipal Consultations:

Dear Friends,

It is my pleasure to invite you to participate in a community discussion on the Ontario Municipal Board on Wednesday, March, 15th. As many of you know, my office conducted OMB consultations several years ago and compiled a list of recommendations that were provided to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs. I would like to invite you to join me as we strive to update our list of proposed amendments to the OMB.

I have heard in recent weeks from several of our resident associations in Toronto Centre. They have presented to me a list of compelling recommendations that, I believe, are harmonious with the findings that we made in our initial consultations. I am inviting you to join us to review and discuss these proposed recommendations and to assist in constructing a concise list of amendments to the OMB.

I look forward to receiving your insight and consideration on this important issue in our community.
