A message from Hon. Chrystia Freeland, Member of Parliament for University—Rosedale
I am pleased to invite residents of University—Rosedale to participate in a town hall discussion as part of the national public consultation on Canadian federal electoral reform this Thursday October 13th at 6 PM at Church of the Messiah.
Federal election reform is part of the Government of Canada's commitment to strengthen our democracy. The Government has committed that 2015 would be the last federal election under the current first-past-the-post electoral system. The House of Commons has given the Special Committee on Electoral Reform the task of leading a national consultation process on Canadian federal electoral reform in 2016. Canadians now have the opportunity to participate in this national dialogue and shape our future electoral system at the federal level.
By attending town halls and participating in online discussions, Canadians are invited to share their ideas on the future of our democracy. Canadians can learn more about the Government's commitment to electoral reform by visitingCanada.ca/democracy.
