Call for Board of Directors nominations and volunteers
We are a volunteer organization and our strength lies in our volunteers.
Our neighbourhood is dynamic and there is always work for volunteers.
By serving on the Board, helping out regularly as a Street Representative, or just occasionally on special projects and committees you will be helping to improve your community.
Board Nominations
To ensure continuity, the ABCRA Board of Directors is elected on a rotating basis. Election to the ABCRA Board of Directors will be held at the Association’s Annual General Meeting scheduled for October 18, 2022.
Nominees must be registered members of the Association and must notify the current Board of Directors in writing of their intention to stand for election.
Prospective candidates are asked to familiarize themselves with the governing documents of the corporation and also to submit, with their notification, a brief resume of their qualifications for the position of Director that may shared with members at the AGM.
Notification of the intention of interest to stand for election to the Board of Directors can be sent to the Board by email no later than October 12, 2022. Nominees will be contacted by one of the Co-Presidents to discuss their interests and the roles of the Board of Directors of the ABCRA.
Other Ways to Get More Involved
Street Representation: We are always looking for volunteers to be street representatives.
Read SECTION 9 of the ABCRA Governing By-law.
These non-voting positions play a vital role in providing a liaison between the residents of a particular street and the ABC board. Street Representatives are important to bring attention to the particular issues on your street and also to keep your neighbours informed about issues that may affect them.
Special Committees: ABCRA can strike Special Committees to work on special issues. Do you have an issue you think deserves attention? Are you concerned about the aging tree canopy on your street, is there a need for speed bumps, or Heritage Listings on your street? If you’re interested in advocating for improvements, the board can advise and help. Email us to discuss these possibilities.
Registered Members of ABCRA are entitled to vote. Your vote is important.
The ABCRA Board of Directors is authorized to make most decisions for the Association. If you are a registered member of ABCRA and attend the Annual General Meeting on October 18, 2022 you may cast your vote.
